The challenge: The pressure on Africa’s oil and gas sector is growing, it’s clear that global momentum towards sustainability is accelerating and there is a strong need for Africa’s energy industry to be increasingly competitive in a global market for capital and to work hard to protect the industry where over 1 million jobs are vulnerable as global economies transition away from oil & gas, according to a McKinsey Report. Saying this, a lot can be done to create an enabling environment to stimulate growth and investment and reducing cost and risk of entering and operating in African countries. This will undeniably be key to ensuring the flow of investment dollars in the future. How can Africa’s energy industry stakeholders materially reduce cost and risk to ensure that Africa is attractive in a global context?
