Zanzibar 1st Licensing Round Confirms Platinum Showcase at Africa Energies Summit

The Frontier team is delighted to announce that a Ministerial-led delegation will use the Africa Energies Summit in London as their chosen platform to engage with global upstream investors in the Zanzibar 1st Licensing Round.

Honourable Shaaban Ali Othman, Minister of Blue Economy and Fisheries will deliver a keynote on the opportunities in the Zanzibar and the Ministry of Blue Economy and Fisheries, alongside the Zanzibar Petroleum Regulatory Authority (ZPRA) will deliver a dedicated showcase on the blocks on offer offshore Zanzibar, east of Unguja and Pemba Islands, and the prospectivity of the region.

Seen as the next oil & gas frontier, the bid round offers an opportunity to IOC’s and independents to engage with the East African Margin, thought to be highly prospective according to initial studies by SLB, who is the exclusive data supplier.

There is over 10,000-line km of 2D seismic data in addition to gravity and magnetic data, well data and a geotechnical exploration report to support the evaluation of the blocks on offer. A range of ready to explore data packages are available for the application to the Zanzibar 1st Licensing Round.

The Africa Energies Summit is Africa’s Premier Global Energy Conference and offers an unrivalled platform for Africa’s governments, regulators and NOC’s to promote.

Gayle Meikle, CEO at Frontier commented;

“The two-year journey of preparation from the Ministry of Blue Economy and Fisheries and ZPRA, together with partner SLB, has led to a very promising value proposition for the industry in this frontier deepwater acreage on offer.

Zanzibar’s potential is clear to see with prolific neighbours existing with Mozambique into production with first LNG and oil potential with analogues in Kenya as well as numerous exploration plays identified on 2D seismic.

We believe that this Licensing Round will put Zanzibar on the petroleum map for the betterment of the Zanzibari people.

Frontier Energy Network is honoured to be the exclusive Marketing & Promotion Partner on the bid round and to welcome the Honourable Minister Othman to the Africa Energies Summit in London on the 14th May – 16th May.”
