Honourable Nani Juwara, the Minister of Energy and Petroleum, The Gambia will lead a delegation to London for the Africa Energies Summit

Frontier is delighted to share with the industry that Honourable Nani Juwara, the Minister of Energy and Petroleum, The Gambia will lead a Gambian delegation to London to engage with the world upstream explorers and leaders joining Frontier in London for the Africa Energies Summit

The delegation will also include, the Director General of the Gambian Petroleum Commission, Mr. Jerreh Barrow, who will join the Summit as a key Government Showcase Sponsor to highlight the significant Gambian exploration opportunities located within the highly promising MSGBC petroleum basin.

The Gambia is located in the central part of the emerging and promising MSGBC with a strong petroleum story. From heavy oil in the Dome flore in south of Gambia, to Sangomar, just over 10 km to the north with the expectation of first oil this year, and the GTA further north; the Gambian acreage on offer is within close proximity of these world class oil and gas discoveries in the MSGBC.

The sub-surface is well understood with excellent data available includes +5,000 km of 2D covering the full area of the prospective zone and 8,400 km² of 3D covering about 80% of the offshore prospective 11000 km².

The Gambia has a history of exploration with two wells recently drilled in 2018 and 2021. Findings from these wells include oil traces and gas shows as well as the confirmation of excellent reservoir quality. The wells drilled also support the presence of a secondary kitchen to the east.

Historically, bp in 2020 completed a full cycle evaluation of the A1 block and high-graded two prospects to drill-readiness. These two prospects have a total mean recoverable resource estimate of 775 MMboe with up to 24% chance of success. FAR in 2022 also integrated the findings from the Bambo-1 and Samo-1 well results in the re-evaluation and high-grading of four new prospects, located on the A2 and A5 blocks, with a total mean recoverable resource estimate of 1.5 Bboe.

Gayle Meikle comments on the addition;

“I am personally very much looking forward to welcoming Honourable Nani Juwara, the Minister of Energy and Petroleum, The Gambia to London as well as Minister Juwara’s Gambian delegation and the excellent team from Petroleum Commission, The Gambia to London to meet with investors.

The Gambia offers investors an incredible opportunity for investment in the MSGBC basin, with a stable government, attractive fiscal regime, an engaged and proactive Ministry and regulator in place with an excellent track record of dealing with international oil & gas partners and investors. We will highlight the prospectivity of Block A1 at the Africa Energies Summit and together with the Petroleum Commission team, shed a light on the opportunities available in this promising region in a dedicated showcase session at the Africa Energies Summit.”

Jerreh Barrow, Director General, Petroleum Commission, The Gambia said;

"The Gambia, with its strong institutional capacity and legislative regime, represent an excellent opportunity for the upstream investor and our multi-disciplined government team will be in London to engage and present these opportunities with the objective of moving closer towards unlocking the significant natural resources that are on offer in our country. We invite investors and interested parties to reach out to us to meet in-person at the Summit to discuss how we can work towards ultimately welcoming you to our wonderful country.”
