Petroleum Directorate Sierra Leone: Fifth Licensing Round Declaration

Pursuant to Section 30 (1) and 32 of the Petroleum Exploration and Production Act 2011, the Petroleum Directorate of Sierra Leone (PDSL) hereby announces on behalf of the Government of Sierra Leone, the Fifth Petroleum Licensing Round for acreage covering an aggregate of 63,643 square kilometers, as indicated in the accompanying map below.

Oil and Gas Corporations are invited to prequalify, undertake a preliminary evaluation of the hydrocarbon potential of the basin, and thereafter submit bids for their respective areas of interest.

Petroleum Directorate and its partners, African Energy Chamber, TGS, GeoPartners and IN-VR will provide the data that will be required for the preliminary review of the prospectivity of the Sierra Leone’s basin. Data Rooms are available in both Freetown and London, where prospective investors can access an inventory of geological and geophysical data as follows:

2D seismic data – 15,800 line-km
3D seismic data – 10,000 sq.km
Well data from 8 wells.

The Fifth Licensing Round will terminate at 12 Noon on 30th September 2022, and bids will be opened immediately thereafter.
