Announcement of the Pre-Qualifying Results for Mozambique 6th Licensing Round

Maputo, 6th April, 2022

Under the Terms of Reference of the Mozambique 6th Licensing Round for Hydrocarbon Exploration and Production Areas, launched in November 2021 in Maputo, we hereby communicate the Pre-Qualifying Results.

From the evaluation of the documents carried out as submitted by the thirteen (13) oil companies; twelve (12) companies were pre-qualified, of which six (6) as Operators and the remaining six (6) as Non-Operators.

  • SINOPEC INTERNATIONAL ENERGY INVESTMENT LIMITED; 

  • ENI MOZAMBICO SPA;

  • EXXONMOBIL MOZAMBIQUE (OFFSHORE 6) LIMITED;

  • PETRO CHINA INTERNATIONAL IRAQ FZE;

  • TOTAL ENERGIES EP NEW VENTURE.

Non-Operators

  • RN ANGOCHE PTE 

  • JOINT STOCK COMPANY NOVATEK 

  • QATAR PETROLEUM MOZAMBIQUE LIMITADA

  • SASOL AFRICA (PTY), LTD 

  • ONGC VIDESH LIMITED

  • DISCOVERY EXPLORATION LIMITED


AITEO EASTERN EXPLORATION AND PRODUCTION COMPANY LTD did not meet the requirements for pre-qualification.

The subsequent stage will comprise the licensing of a minimum of geoscience data for the companies that do not yet have them in order to substantiate the evaluation of the petroleum potential of the areas of interest and the submission of the corresponding proposals, by 30th August 2022. According to the approved timetable, the results will be published on 30 November 2022. 

The geoscience data can be viewed at INP's physical and virtual Dataroom, whose visit procedures are available on this website or on the official INP website.
