PETROSEN, the Société des Pétroles du Senegal, is a public limited company with majority public participation (99% owned by the State of SENEGAL and 1% by the Société Nationale de Recouvrement). Created in May 1981, it is placed under the technical supervision of the Ministry of Oil and Energy and financial supervision of the Ministry of Finance and Budget. 

PETROSEN is the instrument of application of the oil policy of the State of Senegal and in charge of: the research and exploitation of hydrocarbon resources (oil and gas) from the subsoil, refining, storage , marketing and distribution of petroleum products, transportation of petroleum products, and industrial activities relating to the segments listed above.
